# Be Peak District Proud
Sitting on the doorstep of over 20 million people, the Peak District is one of the world`s most visited National Parks. In order for everyone to continue to enjoy the stunning scenery and beauty of the park, everybody who visits needs to ensure that they protect the land they are on, for the wildlife, farmers and other visitors that share it with them.
Following the Countryside Code (opens new window) is paramount to ensuring that the Peak District retains its beauty, and there are further measures that can be taken in particularly vulnerable areas or at times of the year associated with the highest risks, including in droughts or breeding seasons.
Sticking to marked paths, taking your litter home, only parking in designated carparks and never smoking or lighting fires and BBQs in open countryside are just some of the things everybody can do to keep the Peak District somewhere to be proud of.
