Progress report: Aim Two - Landscape and Nature Recovery
Aim: The Peak District National Park is a resilient landscape in which nature, beauty, and cultural heritage are significantly enhanced
The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world and the development of a nature recovery network across England is firmly on the national agenda. The Peak District National Park has not been immune to biodiversity loss and a partnership approach to implementing the Lawton principles of "Bigger, Better, More and Joined Up" for nature recovery is required. The landscape which has evolved over generations of human interaction will continue to change, not least as nature recovery and climate change are addressed. These changes need to be managed in a way that protects and enhances the quality and condition of cultural heritage and landscape character. Click for more info on Aim Two (opens new window).
There are three objectives which seek to contribute to national nature recovery and ensure the evolving landscapes retain their unique characteristics for future generations, by:
- Objective 4
proving a place where nature recovers and biodiversity flourishes - Objective 5
understanding, appreciating and enhancing cultural heritage - Objective 6
protecting the contrasting and evolving landscapes
